Cicelie Fry

Cicelie works primarily by covering some of the blank paper with collage. She is very interested in selecting the torn papers and placing them on the blank watercolour paper to create textures and movement. This forms the underpainting, which she then paints over with either two tones of watercolour or liquid acrylic, and then ‘finds’ the image to bring out from this background by drawing with card and dip pen for the more realistic scenes, or just more paint for the landscape images. It has proved a very exciting and popular technique and gives the artist great creativity as these are very much one-off pieces of work.

Cicelie has always enjoyed sketching and has a large collection of sketch books gathered over the years, and as a mature student achieved an A grade in Art and Design Fine Art. Her interest in painting has widened and developed in her own style, having been greatly influenced by the Blue Rider Group, The late John Blockley RA and Mike Bernard RA.

Cicelie has exhibited in the past at the Mall Galleries London and in many local Exhibitions and Galleries. She is a member of the Farnham Art Society and Odiham Art Group. She lives in Surrey and enjoys travelling to collect more sketches for future work.
